What is a VPN service?
A VPN, which stands for virtual private network, establishes a digital connection between your computer and a remote server owned by a VPN provider, creating a point-to-point tunnel that encrypts your personal data, masks your IP address, and lets you sidestep website blocks and firewalls on the internet. This ensures that your online experiences are private, protected, and more secure.
By its very definition, a VPN connection is:
Virtual because no physical cables are involved in the connection process.
Private because through this connection, no one else can see your data or browsing activity.
Networked because multiple devices—your computer and the VPN server—work together to maintain an established link.
You will not need to use NetExtender VPN to access any Microsoft365 product, such as Outlook (Email), Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, Office.com, etc. This is because Microsoft365 is cloud-based and uses Microsoft Authenticator for its security verifcation.
However, if you need your laptop to have access to administration tools or locally-networked devices when away from an MVCDC office, then you will need to log into NetExtender VPN first.
NetExtender Two-Factor Setup
Open a web browser and go to https://vpn2.mvcdc.org.
Then sign in using your computer login info and secure.mvcdc.ece as your Domain

To setup a new two-factor, click on the link on the word BIND at the end of the directions on the page.

On your phone download the Microsoft Authenticator app if you do not already have it. This app will give you the one-time passwords needed to log in to NetExtender.

Open the Microsoft Authenticator app and click on the + symbol at the top right of the screen.

Click on Other (Google, Facebook, etc.).

Scan the QR Code on your computer screen.

You will be asked to provide the six digit code from the Microsoft Authenticator app into the code field of the NextExtender webpage to verify that the authenticaton app was setup correctly. Once you enter the six-digit code, press enter.
If successful you should get this login page:

Open NetExtender on your computer and login using the same credentials used in step 2.
Open the Microsoft Authenticator app and select NetExtender.
Enter the six digit code that is displayed for NetExtender in the app and press OK. [The security code will change every 30 seconds. You must enter it before and press OK it changes.]

If successful you will get this status page:

If you get this message then two-factor needs to be setup or rebound to your account. Submit a ticket to MVCDC SUpport if you have any issues.
